Dan Quayle can't spell 'em, but he can sell 'em.

The former vice president appears in a commercial for Wavy Lay's Potato Chips to be shown before halftime Sunday during the Super Bowl. In the commercial, Quayle loses his seat on the 50-yard line when a youngster bets him he can't eat just one chip."I love football and potato chips, so this was a natural," he said in a statement. "Potatoes have become a big part of my life, but this time I'm enjoying them!"

In 1992, Quayle erroneously instructed a New Jersey schoolboy to spell "potato" as "potatoe."

Frito-Lay Inc. said the commercial will be shown only once. It also features 12-year-old actor Elijah Wood and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman. Quayle is donating his proceeds to charity.
