The sentencing of Julia Hazel, who pleaded guilty in the stabbing death of her husband, was postponed Tuesday morning after her attorney said the state violated a plea-bargain agreement.

Hazel pleaded guilty to second-degree felony manslaughter in the plea bargain, and she has a written statement saying the state will not recommend prison. But a presentence report contains a paragraph from a police investigator who states Hazel, 30, should go to prison "because she's a danger to the community," said attorney C. Robert Collins. He said there's a question as to whether the police and the state of Utah are one and the same.

Fourth District Court Judge Lynn W. Davis postponed sentencing until Jan. 25 to allow the defense and Utah County prosecutors time to research the issue.
