The Eagles' Dave Chyzowski answered midway through the second period to cut the lead to 2-1.In the third period, the Eagles capitalized on two of four power play opportunities as Sandy Smith's rebound and Dave MacIntyre's 25-foot shot gave Salt Lake a 3-2 lead.

But with 1:25 left in regulation the Lumberjacks pulled even on a 15-foot wrist shot by Ladislav Karabin. Newcomer Brendan Flynn and MacIntyre scored as the Eagles went 2-for-5 in the shootout, but Cleveland iced the game as 3 of the 4 Lumberjacks found the back of the Eagle net against goalie Tom Draper.
