The $500 tax credit proposal would be claimed by families earning less than $150,000 per year, not by families who earned over that amount. The aim of the proposal is to lower the tax burden of middle-class America, not the wealthy. I have heard Enid Waldholtz on several different occasions speaking about the tax credit; she stressed that the credit is for middle America, not for the wealthy, and is aimed at those families earning less than $150,000. Why shouldn't middle America get to keep a little more of their own money?
