A Salt Lake man was flown to LDS Hospital in stable condition after he fell about 60 feet while rock climbing in Little Cottonwood Canyon Saturday.

About 4 p.m., the man, whose name and age have not been released, was with four friends as they scaled a large crevice that leads to a protruding area known as "The Thumb" in the Gate Buttress area just east of the LDS Church vaults, said Salt Lake County Search and Rescue Lt. Lee Smith.The man was halfway up the crevice when he slipped and fell.
