Sam N. Soter, 83, died peacefully at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 1994.
Sam was born May 7, 1911, in Midvale, the son of Nicholas S. and Konstantina Demetropulos Soter. Raised in Midvale. He married Bernice Bennett of Raymond, Alberta, Canada on November 27, 1943 in Sweetgrass, Montana. Sam and Bernice settled in Great Falls, Montana, following their marriage, where they raised their family until moving to Salt Lake City in 1965.Sam's professional life was tied closely to theaters. He served as a projectionist in various Great Falls and Salt Lake theaters, and managed a number of theaters in Montana and Walla Walla, Washington.
Sam was strongly dedicated to his family and friends, always concerned about making things better for others, seldom thinking about his own needs. Those who knew him will remember Sam fondly as a man who was usually fixing something or otherwise helping a friend or neighbor. Sam was happiest with a tool in his hand. He was a good friend to those around him, and very easy to like.
His wife, Bernice, died on September 13, 1993. Sam is survived by his sister Kate Kyrimis, Mesa, Arizona; his daughter, Connie Butcher, South Pasadena, California; his son, Nicholas Gregory Soter, Orem; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday,
November 9, at noon in the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 600 East 800 North, Orem. Friends may visit the morning of the services from 10:30 a.m. Sam will be buried at the Orem City Cemetery next to his beloved Bernice.
