Preston McConnell scored on a 10-yard run and Randy Roberts kicked a 26-yard field goal as Air Force continued its dominance over Army with a 10-6 victory Saturday.
It was Air Force's sixth straight win over Army (3-6) and secured the Commander in Chief's Trophy for the Falcons (6-3) for a record sixth straight time. Air Force defeated Navy 43-21 earlier in the season.McConnell keyed the only scoring drive of the first half. He completed a 24-yard pass to Jake Campbell on a third-and-8 play that put the ball at the Army 18 and then scored three plays later on a keeper with 2:17 left in the first half.
McConnell, the key to the Air Force attack, hurt his right shoulder on a 6-yard run early in the third quarter and did not return. He was replaced by Beau Morgan, who directed the Falcons to the clinching field goal by Roberts with 11:57 remaining in the game.
Morgan's 15-yard run on a third-and-12 play to the Army 46 stunned the Black Knights on the winning drive. It stalled at the Army 9, and Roberts got the clinching points after having missed three field goals earlier.
