Residents of Ponte Leccia on the Mediterranean island of Corsica walk through a devastated street Sunday after the River Golo flooded from torrential rains. The rains destroyed several homes and forced inhabitants to flee. The rainfall let up Monday as residents sopped mud from their homes and rescuers searched for survivors. At least 63 people died, mostly in northern Italy, during the deluge, which washed away bridges and highways and inundated France and Spain as well as Morocco.
