Two Brigham Young University professors were recently honored for their contributions to sponsored research at the university.

Calvin H. Bartholomew, professor of chemical engineering, received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Sponsored Research, while chemistry professor Milton L. Lee was honored with the Technology Transfer Annual Recognition Award.A BYU alumnus, Bartholomew received master's and doctorate degrees from Stanford University before joining the BYU faculty in 1973. He was involved in the founding of BYU's Advanced Combustion Engineering Research Center and served as its associate director from 1986 to 1993.

Lee received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Utah and a doctorate in analytical chemistry from Indiana University. He joined the BYU faculty in 1976, where is currently the H. Tracy Hall Professor of Analytical Chemistry.

He is best known for his research in modern capillary gas and supercritical fluid chromatography and the application of these techniques to environmental and coal-derived products.
