France cracks down on Islamic militants Policemen arrive at the Paris police headquarters Tuesday with one of about 95 people arrested during a crackdown on Islamic militants suspected of aiding guerrillas in Algeria. Coordinated raids took place throughout the Paris region and elsewhere before daybreak, involving more than 300 officers from elite police units. Police said weapons were found at several sites, including a large cache of arms and explosives uncovered at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, a heavily immigrant suburb southeast of Paris.
