Four Utah teachers have been named Presidential Award winners for outstanding work in science and in mathematics. The Presidential Award is the nation's highest honor for teachers in those disciplines.

The award includes a trip to Washington, D.C., in 1995, a presidential citation and $7,500 grants from the National Science Foundation to spend as winners choose in their individual schools.The Utah winners are Rebecca R. Hunt, Kaysville Elementary, Davis District; Darrell Craig Spendlove, Lewiston Elementary, Cache District; David Ray Barton, Olympus High School, Granite District; and Duane B. Merrell, Emery High School, Emery District.
