The Provo City Parks and Recreation Department will offer ice hockey clinics this winter, open to anyone 8 or older.

The first clinic is scheduled for Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28 and the second Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Classes will be held in the mornings at Utah Lake State Park ice rink, 4400 W. Center. Preregistration is required at the Provo Parks and Recreation Department, 351 W. Center, or 379-6600.Classes fill up fast, so those interested should register now.

Two classes will be available for each clinic. Classes will be divided by ability. The clinic fee will be $20, which includes five hours of instruction and playing time, skate rental if needed, rink admission and an official hockey puck. Each class will be limited to 30 participants.

Some type of helmet, thick gloves, knee pads, and a stick are required equipment. Bicycle helmets are acceptable. For equipment information, contact Royal Schmidt at the Hockey Stop, the city's ice hockey sponsor, 371-0713.
