Republicans in Davis County didn't lose any ground in the Utah House of Representatives Tuesday - they retained all nine seats as expected. In fact, in the closest race, the Republican winner got 58 percent of the votes.
Marda Dillree of Farmington, Nora B. Stephens of Sunset and Blake D. Chard and Kevin S. Garn, both of Layton, led the landslide victory with the county's largest individual house wins. Dillree received 90 percent of the votes in District 17, Garn tallied 88 percent in District 16, Stephens grabbed 86 percent of District 13 and Chard landed 82 percent in District 15."I feel really good about it," Dillree said of her victory. "The people are really aware of some of the things I've been doing. It's a real nice voter approval."
Dillree said the 90 percent total surprised her, but she feels her tackling of critical transportation issues in the county may have been a key factor.
Doug Peterson retained his District 11 seat with a 65 to 35 percent margin over Democratic challenger Marilyn J. Smith.
Incumbent Sheryl L. Allen was re-elected in District 19 and Charles E. Bradford of Bountiful won by a large margin in District 20.
Don E. Bush of Clearfield kept his seat in District 14 and Karen B. Smith of Centerville held the District 18 seat.
