Utah voters voted to retain Utah Supreme Court Justice Christine Durham and 55 of the other 56 other judges standing for retention this year.

County justice judges in Beaver County had a rough year. Beaver County voters voted by a narrow margin not to retain Judge Rowland B. Yardley. The judge lost his seat by five votes: 547 voted not to retain him, 542 wanted to keep him.Another Beaver County Judge, Bene' T. Johnson, got only 58 percent of the vote, the lowest percentage among the remaining 59 judges. In that race, 321 people voted to keep him, 233 wanted him out.

The third Beaver County judge, Jetta Ann Davie, won 80 percent of the vote.

Voters voted to retain all other judges by a margin of 75 percent or more.

In a time when the public is frustrated over rising juvenile crime, voters appeared pleased with their juvenile court judges. In a final but unofficial tally, juvenile court judges in the 2nd and 3rd districts did as well as district and circuit judges in those districts.
