The Duchesne County government works well enough in its present setup, a huge majority of voters believe.
Voters rejected a move to eliminate the three-member county commission and replace it with a council-manager system, as suggested in a ballot proposition. The plan envisioned five elected council members working with an appointed county manager. Proponents had said the switch was needed in order to run the county more efficiently and keep on top of day-to-day business, but the voters disagreed.
In complete but unofficial tallies, 2,334 cast ballots against changing the government, with only 676 in favor.
