Barton leads Utes to win

Freshman Brenda Barton tallied 11 kills as the University of Utah women's volleyball team defeated Weber State 15-6, 15-12, 15-10 Tuesday night. Utah coach Beth Launiere tied Jean Widdison as the winningest coach in Ute history with 79 victories.

BYU's Lim takes golf lead

SANTEE, Calif. - Behind a 4-over-par 76 carded by junior Ai Lian Lim, BYU's golf team picked up five shots on Southern Methodist in the second round of the SDSU Women's Fall Classic to take a four-stroke advantage in the tournament. Lim is leading the field of 89 individuals with rounds of 76-76 152, four strokes ahead of first- round leader Robin Buck of SMU.

The final 18 holes will be played Wednesday morning on the 6,100-yard, par 72 Carlton Oaks Country Club course.

Cougar women to kick off swim season

The BYU women's swimming and diving team will kick off its home schedule Friday at noon against UNLV at the Richard Building pools.

The public is invited to the event and admission is free.

Weber to present Purple and White Doubleheader

Weber State's 1994-95 women's basketball squad will show its stuff Saturday in the annual Purple and White Basketball Doubleheader. The women's game starts at 5 p.m. in the Dee Events Center. The men's Purple and White Game follows at 7 p.m.

Weber off to women's golf meet

Weber State's women's golf team will compete in the San Diego State Fall Classic Monday through Wednesday, its last tournament of the fall season. The 54-hole tournament is being held at the Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee, Calif. The Carlton Oaks course is a challenging, 6100-yard par 72 and one of only two courses in San Diego with bent grass fairways.

T-Bird players win conference honors

Linebacker Marlan Bacon and punter Ron Lindberg have been named American West Conference Players of the Week for their performances against Cal State Northridge, a game which SUU won, 45-20. Bacon had 10 tackles and an interception to earn defensive honors while Lindberg punted three times for 126 yards and pinned CSN inside its own 20 twice to win special teams honors.
