Careful on that ice!

Uinta National Forest officials said Thursday it may not be thick enough yet on the Strawberry Reservoir to support ice fishermen."Ice fishing is one of the most popular winter recreation activities at Strawberry Reservoir," said Tim Clark, forest service law enforcement officer. "Due to easy access and great fishing, hundreds of people will visit the reservoir this winter.

"However, there is not enough ice to safely support an individual. We urge fishermen to wait until the ice base is more stable."

Clark said only 4 inches of ice currently cover the water in the reservoir. "That presents a very dangerous situation."

However, as temperatures fluctuate, the ice melts, creating wet conditions.
