British industrial rock band XC-NN will brash the stage at the Cinema Bar at Spanky's Friday night.

Doors open at 7 p.m.Formerly known as CNN - until Ted Turner stamped their feet with legal authority - the band creates music by slamming heavy guitars, melodic rhythms and obscure sampling techniques highlighted with raw, sarcastic lyrics.

XC-NN - featuring former Sisters of Mercy guitarist Tim Bricheno, new bassist Nick Witherick, vocalist/sampler David Tomlinson and drummer Neill Lambert - released a debut album that leans to the industrial gothic sound with heavy rock interludes.

After releasing a debut single, "Young, Stupid and White," on independent label Dance Pioneers Transglobal as CNN, the band geared up for a club tour.

After ending the tour, CNN changed its name to XC-NN, signed with Epic Records and released "XC-NN."
