The City Council is "pretty well settled" on charging a park impact fee for new residential dwellings, City Manager Collin Wood says.

The city will charge builders $500 for new single-family houses and $400 for each unit in new multifamily buildings, the council tentatively decided Tuesday. If the council finalizes its decision, which it probably will do some time this month, the fees will be used to finance new park purchases and to maintain existing parks.

The city has been short on park funds for some time.

Builders in North Salt Lake currently pay about $5000 in city, county and state fees for a typical single-family dwelling, said Planning and Zoning administrator Rod Wood.
