A 94-year-old man who became a U.S. citizen this week in San Antonio said he owes his life to Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa.
Adolfo Hernandez said through an interpreter that he joined the Mexican Army when he was 12 and was taken prisoner by Villa when he was 15. He said he was to have been executed but was released because of his youth.Hernandez said he joined the U.S. Army when he was 17.
He swore his allegiance to the United States during a ceremony Thursday with 750 other people.
