SHARE HURRICANE EDGES NORTH SANPETE

Fourth-quarter magic from Natalie Hughes helped top-ranked Hurricane overcome a third-quarter deficit as they beat second-ranked North Sanpete, 66-63, Friday night.

With the Hawks leading 50-44 into the final period, the Hurricane center sparked a 22-13 revival as she finished with 24. Also finishing in double figures for Hurricane were Michon Hepworth with 11 and Allison Woodberry with 10 points.North Sanpete's Tawnya Crumb led the Hawks with a team-high 22 points, including one 3-point field goal.

Bonneville 42, West 37

At Bonneville, Jenifer Jensen and Sara Penhorood both racked up nine points apiece to boost the Lakers over West. The Panthers' Pansy Brandon topped all scorers with 11 points.

Viewmont 65, Hunter 48

At the Clearfield Tourney, Viewmont took the consolation game as Kristel Whitten fueled the Vikes on the nets with a team high 14 points, followed by Hillary Memmott's 13. Leading all scorers was Hunter ace Angie Sheppick who totaled 24 points on the night.

Timpview 52, Clearfield 35

At the Clearfield Tourney, the Thunderbirds took their eighth win as Hannah Baumgartner sank 16 points and Emily Freeze added 11 more. Baumgartner also ended with 10 rebounds and 4 steals.

North Sevier 50, Parowan 36

At Parowan, the Wolves broke a close first half with runaway scoring in the third quarter. Parowan's Jill Yardley led all scorers with 16. Jennifer Davies was North Sevier's top scorer with nine points.

South Sevier 52, Grand 22

At Grand, the Rams took their first region win by beating up the Red Devils. Tiffany Okerlund led South Sevier with 19 points scoring. Cami Stewart flustered Grand defensively with eight steals.

Taylorsville 65, Layton 61

At Taylorsville, the Warriors slammed the door on Layton in the fourth quarter behind Stephanie Johnston's 23 points. Layton's Christine Noel led three double-figure Lancers with her 19 points.

Judge Memorial 40, Granger 33

At Judge, the Bulldogs grabbed their first win behind Liz Stanion's team high 11 points. Lancer Hannah Toia led all players with 12 points.

Region 14

Dugway 65, West Desert 33

At West Desert, a 25-4 opening quarter lead put the Mustangs up for good as Mary Ann Beckstrand led with 15. Liz Smith and Heidi Bruce both shot 14 points apiece for Dugway.

Wasatch Academy 54, Meridian 46

At Meridian, Casey Brinkley rounded up 31 of the Tigers 54 points for their first season victory. Meridian's Neisha Elkington finished with 26 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Northridge Tournament

Highland 35, East 33

At the Lady Knights Tourney, in the consolation game Misty Shelton led the Rams with 13 points from four 3-point shots. Elyse Stowell equalled Shelton's scoring with 13 points to lead East.

Logan 62, Northridge 41

At the Lady Knights Tourney, Jeremy Covington and Wendy McIntire both teamed up to score 19 points apiece for the Grizzlies' win. Logan outscored Northridge 20-1 in the second quarter to win the tourney.

SUU/Holiday Inn Tournament

Valley 56, Spanish Fork 30

At the SUU tourney, the Buffaloes rumbled on to their eighth win with ten points each from Caroline and Robin Heaton. The Dons dropped to an 0-4 record despite 13 points from Katie Deaver to lead all players.

Pine View 61, Morgan 22

At Morgan, fourth-ranked Pine View buried the Trojans with 12 players scoring in the game. Cori Benson led the Panthers with 10 points, as did Dallis Bice for Morgan also with 10.
