Davis County rescue teams took about an hour Friday night to reach the crew of an ailing brine shrimp boat trapped near Fillmore Island in the Great Salt Lake.

About 6 p.m., Davis County dispatch received a distress call of a boat, company name unavailable at press time, sinking eight miles northwest of Antelope Island, said Jim Fillpot, assistant park manager of Antelope Island State Park."We didn't know what to expect," Fillpot said. "We didn't know if the boat was sinking or if the crew was in the water. So we called Lifeflight and gave them the approximate coordinates."

The uninjured crew was able to stop the water flow and waited while park services and Davis County search and rescue teams reached them with a rescue boat, Fillpot said.
