Two people have died as a result of separate accidents in Utah and Salt Lake counties.
A Springville man died Sunday when his truck slammed into a bridge abutment in Provo while an unidentified person was killed in a two-vehicle accident in western Salt Lake County during the Monday morning commute.Killed was:
Ronald D. Emmons, 32, Springville.
Unidentified Salt Lake County resident.
Emmons was killed early Sunday when the truck he was driving slammed into the Provo River bridge on Geneva Road about 12:50 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Emmons was northbound on Geneva Road in a Chevy Blazer when he collided with a bridge abutment at about 320 North, said Provo police Capt. Craig Geslison. He was not wearing a seat belt. Police are investigating whether Emmons was involved in a minor accident three blocks south on Geneva Road at Center Street just prior to hitting the bridge, he said.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers worked Monday morning to notify the next of kin of a person killed on U-201 during the morning commute.
The gender and identification of the accident victim had not been released Monday morning.
The accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. on the eastbound route of U-201 near 9200 West and involved two cars, UHP dispatchers said.
