Skyline High quarterback Brandon Doman, a first-team Deseret News all-stater, has been selected as the 1994 Gatorade Circle of Champions Mountain Regional High School Football Player of the Year.

The senior now becomes one of eight finalists for the 10th annual Gatorade Circle of Champions National High School Player of the Year award. Previous winners include Peyton Manning (1993), Ron Powlus (1992), Emmitt Smith (1986) and Jeff George (1985).Doman, who had earlier been named Utah Player of the Year by Gatorade, was the choice of a panel of regional media advisors and a national board assembled by Scholastic Coach magazine.

"Brandon was asked to do a lot more for us this year and he's met the challenge," said Skyline coach Roger Dupaix.

Doman's older brother Cliff won the state award in 1991.

The Gatorade Circle of Champions program annually honors outstanding high school student-athletes.
