Bail was set at $200,000 Monday for a Santaquin man being held in the Utah County Jail on suspicion of shooting his daughter's boyfriend four times in the stomach early Sunday.
The victim, Darren Tuckett, 26, Santaquin, remained in fair condition Tuesday at Mountain View Hospital.Utah County sheriff's detectives said Tuckett was shot four times in the abdomen from point-blank range with a .22-caliber handgun. The shots missed all of Tuckett's vital organs.
The shooting occurred at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday during an altercation between Tuckett and his girlfriend's father. Several children witnessed the shooting at the father's house, 202 N. 400 East.
Ronald E. Smith, 45, was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide. He is scheduled to make a first appearance in 4th Circuit Court in Spanish Fork early next week.
