Ohio State football coach John Cooper is staying at the school, having accepted a new contract with the university, a spokesman for the athletic department said today.
Cooper and athletic director Andy Geiger have been negotiating this week on a contract extension.Published and broadcast reports have said Cooper and Geiger on Thursday agreed to a tentative 5-year agreement.
Cooper on Monday interviewed for the vacant job at Louisiana State where Curley Hallman was fired.
Sports information director Steve Snapp today said a new contract had been offered by the university and accepted by Cooper, who has been at Ohio State for 7 years.
