LaVera Wilcox Coombs, 99, passed away November 30, 1994 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born September 20, 1895 in Farmington, Utah, the oldest daughter of David Eugene and Elizabeth Layne Wilcox. When she was 2 years old, the family moved by covered wagon to Cardston, Alberta, Canada.She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission in Samoa when she was 16 years old. Later, after her marriage to Mark Vernon Coombs, they presided over the Tongan Mission two separate times. She also served as Primary president, Young Women's president, ward and stake Relief Society president, teacher in each organization and as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. She was active in DUP in Logan and also a member of the YESHIRA.

She is survived by her children, D'Monte W. Coombs (Joan), American Fork; Melburn M. Coombs (Margaret), Salt Lake Cty; Vernetta C. Weston (Arlo), North Salt Lake; Gene C. Sisson (Norman), San Lorenzo, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Mark Vernon Coombs; son, Noel; her three sisters and parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 1994, at 12 noon, in Deseret Mortuary Chapel, 36 East 7th South, SLC, where friends and relatives may call for viewing Sunday evening 6 to 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. Monday. Interment at Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 East 1300 South, SLC.
