Ruth Vaudys Madsen Harris, 72, passed away Thursday, December 1, 1994. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

She was born August 21, 1922, in Moroni, Utah a daughter of Hyrum and Elsie Sorensen Madsen.She married Ray E. Harris on January 25, 1941 in Salt Lake City. Marriage solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 17, 1951.

She was a member of the LDS Cottonwood 12th Ward, having served in various Relief Society and auxiliary positions. She was also active in the Jordan District PTA for a number of years. She was a graduate of West High School, Salt Lake City.

Ruth and Ray devoted many years to the development and operation of a family construction business in the Salt Lake area. Ruth and Ray enjoyed traveling together throughout the country and abroad. They had a cabin at Bear Lake and a home in St. George. Her true love was being a devoted companion to Ray and her role as homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Ray, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Linda Hewlet (Jim), Highland;

Karen Yates (John), Sandy; one son, Richard Harris (Verla), Kaysville; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Glendon Madsen, Bountiful; Jack

Madsen, Salt Lake City; one sister, Mrs. Bernard (Norma Dee) Walker, Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and sisters; and an infant daughter, Janet.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 1994 at 12:30 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 East, Sandy. Viewing preceding services at 11 a.m. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Family requests donations to Primary Childrens' Hospital in lieu of flowers.
