Women fall, host Weber

PORTLAND, Ore. - Playing its second game in as many nights, the University of Utah women's basketball team fell 68-57 to Portland Tuesday night.

The Utes (6-3) shot just 35 percent from the field and turned the ball over 25 times. Amber McEwen led Utah with 17 points.

Utah plays Weber State Thursday night at the Huntsman Center. Tipoff is 7:30.

Wildcat women lose

BILLINGS, Mont. - Montana State knocked off the Weber State women's basketball team Tuesday night behind 25 points from Tera Silvius. Mika Brown led the Wildcats (6-2) with 18 points.

Wangsgard honored

BOISE, Idaho - Weber State's Nicky Wangsgard has been named the Big Sky Conference women's basketball player of the week.

Southern Utah

Montana St. edges SUU

CEDAR CITY - Trailing by one with 18 seconds left, Montana State's Quadre Lollis hit two free throws to defeat Southern Utah 89-88 Tuesday night.

The MSU Bobcats (7-1) were led by Kwesi Coleman with 21 points and Lollis added 18.

Southern Utah (4-3) was led By Daryl Christopher with 16 points and Reggie Ingram, who missed a 15-footer at the buzzer, had 15. Aaron Morrison and Keith Berard each had 13 points.

Southern Utah led 48-46 at halftime.

AEC picks Berard

CEDAR CITY - Point guard Keith Berard was named American West Conference player of the week Tuesday. Berard totaled 30 points in close losses to Pepperdine and USU last week.
