Carolyn Carson Butterfield, age 53, of Fairfield, Utah, died Dec. 20, 1994 at her home of cancer.
Born Oct. 14, 1941 in American Fork, Utah to Ether Reed and Vera Cook Carson. Married Garry Butterfield, July 12, 1974 in the Provo LDS Temple.Carolyn graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in recreation and physical fitness. She taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade in the Jordan School District for 14 years.
She was recently recognized for a lifetime of service in Scouting at a court of honor where two of her boys received their eagle rank. She was instrumental in helping several boys advance in scouting and complete their eagles. She served in the LDS Church as Young Women's president, stake sports director, and a teacher in all of the organizations, scouting coordinator, and first counselor in the Relief Society presidency.
She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed dancing, watching her sons play ball, reading, riding horses and spending quiet nights in Fairfield.
Funeral Friday, Dec. 23, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Valley LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, Lehi, Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday at the church in Cedar Fort one hour prior to services. Burial, Fairfield Cemetery.
