Todd Christensen led all scorers with 18 points and Winston Scott added 15 as Highland defeated rival East 56-50 Friday night.

The Leopards lead 28-27 at halftime, but the Rams came out strong from the break and outscored East 14-7 in the third quarter to take a six-point advantage into the final stanza.Highland made the lead stand in the fourth to improve its record to 2-1 on the season. East fell to 0-2 despite the 15-point effort of John Hammer.

Brighton 53, Cottonwood 41

At Brighton, David Nielsen's 23 points was the only double-figure effort for the Bengals but it was enough to help them corral the Colts. Brighton held Cottonwood to four points in the crucial third quarter.

Viewmont 53, Layton 50

At Viewmont, Brooks Smith led a balanced-scoring attack for the Vikings as they came from behind to defeat the Lancers. Smith scored 13 points for Viewmont (2-0), which won despite a 21-point attack from Layton's Jeremy Jeppeson.

Sky View 71, Clearfield 52

At Clearfield, the Bobcats shrugged off a slow start to blow past the Falcons. Justin Boudreau led Clearfield with 16 points.

Olympus 65, Skyline 64

At Skyline, the Titans squeaked past the rival Eagles to pick up a big road victory.

Judge Memorial 73, Kearns 51

At Judge, Kyle Offerman's 17 points led a group of four Bulldogs in double figures as they caged the Cougars. Justin Soto and Andre Thompson each added 13 for Judge as it raced to a 21-6 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Timpview 60, Hunter 55

At Hunter, the top-ranked Thunderbirds eked out a tough road victory over the Wolverines. Nate Cooper tossed in 18 points for Timpview while Cory Reiser led Hunter with 16.

Hillcrest 62, Jordan 53

At Hillcrest, the Huskies evened their season record by dumping the long-time rival Beetdiggers. Hillcrest (1-1) trailed at halftime but road the shooting of Dane Ishiahra and his 21 points to victory.

Bear River 73, Granite 70

At Bear River, the Bears used the 28-point effort of Bryan Braegger to lead to victory over the Farmers in a game that was close all the way. Maurice Hamilton had another fine night for Granite with 24 points.

Lehi 77, Hurricane 46

At Lehi, the Pioneers cruised to homecourt victory over the Tigers. Jason Allen's 30 points for Lehi led all scorers while David Porter had 17 for Hurricane.

Beaver 69, Gunnison 66

At Gunnison, the top-ranked Beavers remained perfect in the early season with a road win over the Bulldogs. Kevin Brown and Jeff Martin combined for 38 points for Beaver (2-0). John Peterson scored 16 in a losing effort for Gunnison (1-2).

Cedar City 52, Manti 43

At Manti, the visiting Redmen left town with their top-ranking still in tact as they toppled the Templars. David Evans banged home 19 points for Cedar City (2-0), while Alan Cox had 13 for Manti (2-2).

Carbon 73, West 61

At West, the Dinos marched into town and left with a triumph over the Panthers. West (1-1) led 23-18 at the end of the first quarter but was outscored in each of the final three periods by Carbon (3-0).

Payson 76, American Fork 56

At Payson, the Lions roared to a big victory over the Cavemen. Lincoln Taylor led all scorers with 26 points for Payson.

Delta 66, Wayne 41

At Delta, Craig Jensen netted 17 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Rabbits past the Badgers. Delta (2-1) jumped out to a 14-7 first quarter advantage and never looked back. Wayne's Ryan Peterson led all scorers with 18.

Parowan 52, Juab 51

At Parowan, the Rams blew a 50-44 lead with 40 seconds left but Kenny Lindsey hit two free throws with no time left to give them the win over the Wasps. Chad Wilson led all scorers with 19 points for Parowan.

Wendover 59

Salt Lake Christian Academy 36

At Wendover, the Wildcat defense held the Dragonslayers to two points in the first quarter as they rolled to a 23-point win. Nick Tangero had 22 points to lead the way for Wendover.

Dixie Tournament

Taylorsville 77, Orem 49

The Warriors advanced in the winners bracket by drubbing the Tigers.

Dixie 51, Spanish Fork 35

The second-ranked Flyers played tough defensively to help them dump the Dons.

Laker Classic

Provo 50, Box Elder 46

The second-ranked Bulldogs advanced to the finals of this tournament with a win over the Bees. Matt Williams led the way for Provo with 22 points.

Lynx Tournament

Waterford 74, Meridian 45

At Salt Lake Lutheran, Jason Hewlett scored 14 points and John Hancock added 13 as the Wolves advanced to Saturday's final of the Salt Lake Lutheran Lynx tournament with a win over the Mongooses.

Salt Lake Lutheran 69

West Desert 40

The Lynx advanced to the finals of their own tournament by routing West Desert. Cliff Stuhmar and Matt Atkinson combined for 23 points for Salt Lake Lutheran (2-0).

Roy-Ben Lomond Classic

Alta 70, Springville 50

Adam Sharp's 19 points helped the top-ranked Hawks take the title of this tournament. Brent Hawkins and Brad Wilden each added 17 points for Alta (2-0) as a tough pressure defense was key to the Hawk victory. Dustin Tanner led all scorers with 20 points for Springville (2-1).

Roy 57, Ben Lomond 42

The host Royals pulled away in the second half to defeat the other host Scots for third place in the tournament. Mike Puzey tossed in 20 points and Kory Anderson added 10 for Roy (1-2). Jeremy Burgess had 12 for Ben Lomond. Weber Warrior Shoothout

The Warriors took the title of their own tournament behind the 23-point attack of Mitch Montgomery.
