To hear coach Bob Sutton tell it, Army can finish the season with an unspectacular 4-7 record but still be considered a success - if it beats Navy today.
Such things are possible when the military and sports cross paths."That's just the way this game is," Sutton said. "It makes your winter a lot better . . . if you win it because it's a game that means so much to so many."
Sutton said many of the players in the game stay in their respective armed services and will often be reminded about the wins and the losses as they cross paths during their military careers.
"I'm sure there are guys in the Pentagon this week who are jabbering at each other about, `Hey, in 1964, we got you - don't forget it,' " he said.
Army won 16-14 last year to take a 44-43-7 lead in a series in which the Midshipmen have outscored the Cadets 1,203-1,135.
