Jerry Henderson, age 84, passed on December 2, 1994 in Salt Lake nursing home.
Born April 20, 1910 in Burley, Idaho to Milton H. and Elizabeth A. Holt Henderson. Married Gwendolyn Duncan, she preceded him in death December 19, 1969. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Retired as a golf teacher and pro from Mt. Dell Golf Course in 1975. Also head pro at Nibley (eight years) and Forrest Dale (20 years) golf courses. Founder of the City Parks Men and Ladies Golf Tournament. Qualified for the U.S. Open 1938. Held numerous local and midwest golf titles. Member of the PGA for 40 years, Elks Lodge and the LDS Church.Survived by a son, Martin G. (Spike), Salt Lake; two daughters, Barbara (Gene) Stevens, Salt Lake; Sheri (Merrill) Thompson, Salt Lake; four grandchildren: Jeff, Teri, Marny, Ambra; five great-grandchildren and three sisters, Zelda, Wanda and Renee.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 7, 12 noon at South Jordan Memorial Park, 1085 West 10600 So. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State.
