SHARE ACCIDENT CLAIMS UVSC CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNER

A cross-country runner for Utah Valley State College died as the result of a traffic accident three miles south of the Yuba Dam turnoff in Juab County Sunday morning.

Killed was:Angela Gentry, 18, Ferron, Emery County.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Waynn Durrant said the accident occurred at about midnight when the 1993 Ford Ranger Gentry was riding in overturned on the northbound lane of Interstate 15. The truck, driven by Dirk Jacobsen, 18, Ferron, wandered into the inside median.

Gentry was thrown from the vehicle and then struck and dragged by a second vehicle as it tried to avoid the Jacobsen vehicle.

Jacobsen was treated for minor injuries and released at Central Valley Medical Center, Nephi. Joshella Dils, 40, Caliente, Nev., who stopped to help and was struck by the bed of Jacobsen's truck when it was hit by the second vehicle, was also treated for minor injuries and released.
