SHARE AGGIE ATHLETES LEAD BIG WEST IN THE CLASSROOM

Utah State University leads the league in the classroom, according to the 1994 Big West Conference Fall All-Academic teams, which included 14 Aggies. The USU football team placed seven members on the All-Big West Academic team, the cross country teams contributed six members and the volleyball team added one.

Football players who made the grade, with majors in parentheses, are senior Travis Schow (marketing), juniors Kevin Corner (engineering), Rob Thomas (liberal arts), Matt Wells (marketing) and Todd Wilson (Spanish); and sophomores Lonnie Johnson (engineering) and Jeff Spencer (business). Cross country academicians are senior Jeffrey Doyle (accounting), juniors Windy Hutchings (math) and J'Dee Wilson (biology); and sophomores Toby Conley (pre-med), Joanna Bair (undecided) and Janeen Jensen (public health). The volleyball honoree is senior Tara Poppinga (elementary education).New Mexico State placed 12 athletes on the all-academic teams, Nevada and Pacific had seven each, Long Beach State six, UNLV five, Cal-Fullerton and Cal-Irvine four each, Hawaii (women's sports) and Cal-Santa Barbara three each, Southwestern Louisiana (football only) and San Jose State two each, Arkansas State (football only) one and Northern Illinois (football only) and Louisiana Tech (football only) none.
