The final class of the Deseret News Ski School will be held Saturday at Alta. Graduation day.

It will be marked by two events for ski schoolers: 1. Introduction to one of Alta's chairlifts, and 2. the presentation of an Alta/Deseret News Ski School pin. Each student, says Alan Engen, director of the Alta Ski School, will receive one.

The ski school will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students should meet in the upper resort area. From there, as with the previous three classes, they will be placed with instructors.

In most cases, however, they will not move to a gentle slope near the base lodge, as they have done for previous classes, but will get in line and ride up the mountain on a lift. It is the final step in the learning process for beginners.

Buses from Lewis Brothers Stage will be running on Saturday. They will pick up students at the Olympus Hills Shopping Center, 3900 South and Wasatch Blvd., and the west end (near ZCMI) of the Cottonwood Mall, 4835 S. Highland Dr. Cost of a round-trip ticket is $5.50.

This will complete the 47th session of the ski program, which is recognized as the longest running ski program the country.
