SHARE INDIANS EXPECT TO HOST 1997 ALL-STAR GAME

The Cleveland Indians will play host to the 1997 All-Star game at Jacobs Field, the team was expected to announce today.

Several sources reported the development Wednesday, but the Indians would neither confirm nor deny it. The team has called a news conference, however, with acting commissioner Bud Selig, AL president Gene Budig, Cleveland mayor Michael R. White and Indians owner Richard Jacobs expected to attend.The Indians sought the 1995 game for year-old Jacobs Field, but it was awarded to the Texas Rangers.
