City of Rocks National Reserve in southern Idaho, popular with Utah rock climbers, has announced the temporary closure of the Twin Sisters to rock climbing.

Because of the formation's historical significance along the California Trail, a study was conducted during the summer and fall of 1993 to collect information about the effect of rock climbing there.The moratorium will allow the National Park Service and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation to analyze the information gathered and decide whether or not rock climbing should be allowed on the Twin Sisters.
