"Progress Happens Here" is the city slogan in the newest promotional brochure from the Layton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The 12-page color pamphlet, published earlier this year, promotes the city's pristine countryside, along with its excellent business climate."It does us a great job," Layton Mayor Jerry Stevenson, said. "It's well done."

Stevenson said it highlights the city's potential well and should help encourage quality businesses to locate in Layton.

"It depicts that we're a big city with a little-city atmosphere," he said.

The cover of the brochure shows a small, southeast Layton ranch, with several new homes and the Wasatch Mountains in the background.

"Business is booming in Utah," Page 2 of the publication says. "You can take advantage of the economic opportunities here in Layton, a location that's as nice and healthy a place to live as it is a place to do business."

It briefly talks about Layton's pioneer beginnings, highlights the business climate - stressing there's a lot of open land zoned for commercial use available - and overviews the surrounding area, from Hill Air Force Base to Weber State University.

In addition to the pamphlet's rural flavor, it also has several photographs designed to attract some high-tech businesses to Layton, something officials say the city needs to build on a solid retail business base.

The city of Layton helped pay for the chamber's new publication, and about two dozen Layton businesses also chipped in.

The pamphlet was designed to last for several years and contains a pocket with an insert on Layton statistics and demographics that can be inexpensively updated.
