Sheral "Shady" Hayward Carter, 81, died February 23, 1994 at the Milford Valley Memorial Hospital in Milford, Utah.

He was born July 31, 1912 in Minersville, Utah to Hayward and Inez Etta Roberts Carter. He married Lelia Marshall February 12, 1930 in Beaver. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. They were married for 63 years. Lelia passed away January 14, 1994.Sheral was active in the LDS Church. He was a dairyman, cattleman and sheepman. He was a trapper and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a Hi-Land Milk truck driver. He was instrumental in bringing Hi-Land Dairy into Southern Utah.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, camping and gardening. He and his wife raised a large vegetable and flower garden each year, which they shared with all the family and community. He loved horses and attending the races.

He is survived by five sons, Dean (Dona), Allen (Jean), Roger (Sue), all of Minersville; Clark (Arlene) and Reed (Debra), all of Beaver; one daughter, Janice (Gordan) Roberts, Beaver; 31 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Melvin Karen, two brothers, Frank and Darwin Carter and one sister, Leona Roberts.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Minersville LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Minersville Cemetery in Minersville, Utah under the direction of Olpin Mortuary.
