After the stunning upset loss to Wisconsin-Green Bay, Jason Kidd announced Thursday that he will definitely wear a Cal uniform again - a baseball uniform.

"I've already talked to coach (Bob) Milano," Kidd said cheerfully. "He said he is ready for me right away."Is that perfect Kidd or what? Just when you think you have him pinned on the baseline, ready to jump to the NBA, he throws a no-look pass to center field.

There is only one constant. Every game, win or lose, Kidd is the story, and Thursday was no exception. He led the Bears in rebounds, assists and steals, keyed a rousing second-half comeback and then took complete blame for the loss.

Then he spent the postgame interview session dropping a notebook full of broad hints that he is seriously considering coming back to Cal.

"I have two more years at Cal," Kidd said more than once. "The media already has me in the NBA, but I have lots of time left to make that decision."

Maybe he was just tweaking reporters, and building suspense - not to mention improving his draft position - but this sounded more like some serious waffling. Remember, this is someone who said before the season began that he would return to Cal for his junior year if the Bears did not make it to the Final Four.

"Everybody is coming back," he told reporters, "except for one person (presumably senior Akili Jones). I can't say I haven't thought about it, but I would miss the college life. You have so much fun with your peers."

More fun than being rich?

"There's a movie out called `Greedy,"' Kidd said, "and I accidentally stepped into it and watched it. It made me think money isn't everything.

"I'm going to talk to Chris (Webber, the Golden State Warrior rookie). I know there are some days he misses Michigan. But that's just the rookie blues. I know this, it's a business there (in the NBA). I'm having a great time at Berkeley, and I've got two more years, so I can still win two national titles."
