The Salt Lake Golden Eagles lost for the fifth time in six games Friday night, bowing to Indianapolis, 5-0, in a battle between the two worst teams in the International Hockey League.
It was the second straight night the Golden Eagles had been blanked, as they also lost 5-0 Thursday to Kalamazoo.Indianapolis improved to 22-39 with the win while the Eagles fell to 18-46
Indianapolis took a 1-0 lead after one period on a goal by Hugo Belanger and extended it to 2-0 after two periods on a goal by Mike Speer. Dave Christian, Bobby House and Dino Grossi scored in the final period.
The Golden Eagles have now gone eight periods without a goal, last scoring in the first period in a 3-2 win at Fort Wayne last Sunday.
Salt Lake and Indianapolis meet again tonight in Indianapolis in the sixth game of the Eagles' eight-game road trip.
