A Salt Lake County man told deputy sheriffs he was attacked by a friend who tried to stab him and ran over him with a car.

The 30-year-old victim was drinking at his brother's home about 3 a.m. Thursday with a friend when his friend started to beat up his wife. The victim's brother asked the friend to respect his house, a sheriff's report said.The man pulled out a hunting knife and asked if they wanted to fight. The victim's brother grabbed his wife and baby and left the house. The friend then turned to the victim and threatened him, the report said.

The man ran into the bathroom and shut the door. His friend began to stab through the door and then kicked the door open. As the man lunged at the victim, the victim successfully knocked his hands away, the report said.

When the fight moved outside, the victim fell down the stairs. The other man got in his car and ran over the victim's leg, the report said. He then jumped out of the car and held the knife to the man's throat and threatened to cut it.

The victim was treated and released at a local hospital. Police were looking for the suspect Thursday morning.
