The Rev. Monsignor J. Terrence Fitzgerald, apostolic administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, Monday issued the following Easter message:
"As church bells ring across the landscape of the world to announce another Easter, we celebrate the sunrise of new life in the risen Lord. Christ, the Easter dawn, again overtakes the darkness and shadows of an estranged world with the intense light of his word and grace."While we carry our personal crosses and live in a world confronted with grave problems, the resurrection of Jesus holds out the promise and hope that our lives can be different and our world can change. The glimmer of peace in the Middle East evidences the fact that what was once thought impossible is now negotiable. So, too, the daily miracles of healed hearts, mended relationships and new beginnings testify to the Easter power of Christ.
"In the resurrection of Jesus, all of us can find power for spiritual transformation if we but believe that our lives can be better and our world changed. Easter is a time for renewed belief that the Lord's power is still at work in 1994.
"It is our prayer this Easter that Christ, the light, bring peace and joy to every heart, each family, every relationship and, indeed, to every niche of the world. May the power of his word and the strength of his grace deeply touch our hearts."
