Jeffrey P. Gaia, president of Bank One Utah, has been named "Minority Advocate of the Year" by the Centro Civico Mexicano community organization.
Mark Wheatley, CCM finance chair-man, said the award honors Bank One Utah's "active involvement in Utah's Hispanic community."Over the past several years, Bank One has supported Hispanic community projects and special events, said Wheatley. It has also developed and implemented outreach programs to held educate local Hispanics on ways to manage their personal and professional finances.
"Our organization is impressed with Bank One's constant presence and involvement in the local Hispanic community," said Wheatley. "Bank One has been heavily involved in minority events for some time.
"The bank volunteers their services, provides financial assistance and helps plan important local Hispanic community events. We felt it was time Bank One be recognized for their meaningful efforts."
Gaia said Bank One has plans to expand its involvement in the state's Hispanic community.
