Food in the Big Apple

Going to New York? Times Square, a 32-square block area with over 25 different kinds of cuisine - from Afghan to Thai - is high on the list of visitor attractions.

The "Times Square Restaurant Guide," recently published by the Times Square Business Improvement District, lists over 200 restaurants in the area.

Organized alphabetically and by type of cuisine, the guide contains information provided by each restaurant and offers brief descriptions of the food, price level and special features such as weekend brunch, garden dining and pre-theater menus. Restaurants are not rated or reviewed.

The guide also provides useful information on dining out in New York such as how to make and cancel reservations, tipping guidelines and handling special menu needs. A listing of the area's parking garages is also included.

To receive a copy of the "Times Square Restaurant Guide," send a self-addressed, No. 10 business-size envelope with two 29-cent stamps to: Times Square Restaurant Guide, Times Square BID, 1560 Broadway, Suite 800, New York, N.Y. 10036.
