- "Of the available opportunities, particularly with the Southwest Conference private institutions with whom we like to associate ourselves, it is indeed a superb opportunity," said Tulsa's interim athletic director Chris Small. "It is perhaps the biggest single opportunity we've been presented with in a long time for the future of the athletic program."- "The WAC provides us with a vehicle to be a top Division I-A program," San Jose State president J. Handel Evans said. "By joining the WAC, we will have the opportunity to enhance San Jose State University's reputation."
