Supermodel Christie Brinkley was sure she was going to die when a helicopter carrying her and fellow skiers crashed near Telluride, Colo., last week.
She reported in an "Entertainment Tonight" interview that her ski strap got caught on a piece of the plunging helicopter and was dragging her down the mountain. "I remember looking at that strap and thinking that lousy strap is going to be the death of me," she said.Miraculously, she came out of the crash with only minor bruises and a damaged wrist and the other passengers also survived. She gives her little daughter, Alexa, indirect credit for saving her life. "I developed sort of a mantra. I just kept thinking Alexa, Alexa. I felt like Alexa kept me alive because I did not want to leave this world. I just wanted to be her mom." I had to settle, focus on something that was dear to me and I just thought, well, if that's going to be my last thought, that's what I want it to be."
