As part of the traditional April Y-Days observance at Brigham Young University, BYUSA has honored Janet Griffin Lee, wife of President Rex E. Lee, with Exemplary Womanhood Award.
She was selected by the BYU student service associations officers, and the appointment was confirmed by the Board of Trustees. She joins the ranks of past honorees Flora Benson, Ardeth G. Kapp, Patricia Holland, Barbara B. Smith, Florence S. Jacobson and Camilla Kimball. The award alternates every other year with the BYU Exemplary Manhood Award.

She has been a professional teacher and developed curriculum and phonics programs that were adopted by several school districts. She and her husband are the parents of seven children and have six grandchildren.
The annual Y-Days, celebrated this week, include awards, special speakers and a communitywide service day involving hundreds of BYU students performing acts of service ranging from tree planting to house painting.
