Olive Hogan Smith, 87, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away May 12, 1994.
Born February 11, 1907 in Centerville, Utah to Donald and Margaret Ann Duncan Hogan. Married John LaVel Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 23, 1926. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1975. Olive was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Primary and the Relief Society Presidencies as well as a teacher. She also was a visiting teacher for many years. She made beautiful quilts for her family, and was considered a lovely neighbor and friend. Former resident of Sandy, Orem, Rexburg, and Midvale.Survivors: children, John D. and wife, Frances, Central, Arizona; LaJuana Watson and husband, Harold F., Sandy; Melva Zillner and husband, Josef, Midvale; Roma Smith and husband, Milton, Draper; Kay H. Smith and wife, Neva, Provo; Kari Randall Smith and wife, Lorna, Rexburg, Idaho; 51 grandchildren; 117 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Irene Gardner, West Jordan; Clyde, Tooele; Rulon, Magna; Lee, Stockton; Ruth Parry, Bluffdale; Eric, Centerville; Beatrice Densley, Midvale; Margaret Rideout, Draper; Wilma Mello, Heber, both California; Vern Finlayson, Sandy. Preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Gaisford; brothers, Donald Hogan and Grandal Finlayson; sister Ora Bulkley.
Funeral services Monday, May 16, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the Midvale, Utah North Stake Center, 97 West 7500 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the stake center from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
